San Diego Music Wire carries on with another interesting recording for you. Once again, recorded live at Rarefied. Multi-miced, but not multi-tracked. Just straight off the board, through the Burl converter, and into Pro Tools. This one was done really minimally too. No outboard gear at all. Just some nice mics and the Neve Genesys.
The group is called Dornob Collective and they do traditional Persian music with some influence from jazz, reggae, and other genres. The main organizer, Farhad, plays classical guitar and the Oud (a middle-eastern lute). The group is filled out with electric guitar, electric bass, drums, and two fabulous singers. Some of the pieces were improvised. Check it out here:
We’re very excited to announce a new project in collaboration with a good friend of the recording studio, David Feldman, that will be hosted frequently over here at Rarefied Recording.
It’s called San Diego Music Wire and it will feature live, in studio, recordings of local San Diego and some touring bands as they come through town. You can check out the recordings as they become available over at:
San Diego Music Wire is a great way to check out how a band sounds before heading out to see them live.
All recordings will be completely live and recorded to two tracks, mixed on the fly, just like the old days.
The first recording is of a great jazz group, The Danny Green Trio. These guys swing a variety of instrumental jazz styles and are top notch musicians and individuals. They’re up for a San Diego Music Award this year too.
Look out for more announcements of San Diego Music Wire recordings!
