# of songs, instrumentation, sonic references, specific pre-mix notes.
A set of dates will be booked for doing initial mixes for each song. Usually, one day is booked per song.
Time is spent by the Mixer to prepare the session for mixing. This includes determining which tracks are routed to which channels on the console as well as setting up a mix capture track and instantiating certain plugins ahead of time.
Mixer starts mixing in the morning. By about 5pm a “MIX IN PROGRESS” will be sent to the artist/band for review. A long break between about 5pm and 9pm is taken by the Mixer while the artist/band provides online feedback as needed. The Mixer returns around 9pm, incorporates any feedback into the mix and puts on the finishing touches. MIX v1 is sent to the artist/band. Careful documentation of all outboard gear/settings used on the mix is done.
Time is spent by the artist/band listening to MIX v1. Feedback is provided via an online review portal which allows for time-stamped comments.
If changes to MIX v1 are required, a revision session is booked after all feedback is received. The artist/band is requested to be available in person or online for the revision session. The Mixer carefully recalls the mix and makes each change as requested. Then, along with the artist/band, final tweaks are immediately made in real time. MIX v2 is sent. If alternate mixes and/or stems are desired, this is the time to make them. Additional fees may apply.
Repeat steps 5 and 6 until the artist/band is satisfied. Note: only the first revision in step 6 is included in the flat rate price. Additional revisions are billed hourly.
Once a final mix has been settled on, The Mixer can provide client with a copy of the mix and/or send it to a Mastering Engineer of your choice. A backup is made and offered to the client.
As a free add-on, the Mixer will review the mastered version of the song and provide feedback.
